Pre-Built Cabinets
Out of the woods proudly introduces our economy northpoint cabinet line
When choosing cabinetry options, you may lean more towards a pre-built option for its many benefits. Especially if you are on a budget, pre-built cabinets can still offer aesthetic appeal and durability without the expense of custom options. Pre-built cabinets do have some drawbacks though, so we suggest looking into all your options before installing them in your home.
Pre-built Cabinets From Out Of The Woods
We have introduced a pre-built option to our repertoire to serve more of our budget-friendly customers. This Premier Collection features elegant upgrades like soft-close doors and drawers. It also has a beautifully finished interior and exterior which you often don’t get from other pre-made options. Our Premier Collection is covered by a 5-year limited lifetime warranty.
Our pre-built options are made from the same wood that is available for our custom options. This is the only reason that pre-built cabinets can last through daily wear and tear, especially in kitchens, offices, bedrooms, restaurants, laundry rooms, and bathrooms.

Pre-built Vs. Custom Cabinets
OOTW offers both custom cabinets and pre-built cabinets for our clients. Custom cabinets come with a better ROI and often have a longer lifespan than other manufactured options. While they may come with a higher upfront cost, custom cabinets are known to last for decades and are easier to maintain.
While pre-built options can be customized, the available customization options are limited. You can change the door style, color, and the hardware of pre-built cabinets. Changing the spacing of shelves, the direction of storage (verticle or rounder sections), and the size of the cabinet are often not available.
Custom cabinet options from OOTW will include the following:
- Quality Comes First
- Structural Integrity
- Pretty On The Inside, Too
- Hardworking Hardware
- Thoughtful Craftsmanship
- Premium Drawer Boxes
- Sturdy Shelves
Quick Installation
One of the reasons that homeowners are so drawn to pre-built cabinets is because they can be installed quickly. Unlike custom options, pre-built cabinets are already put together and can be purchased and installed in a matter of days. Custom options go through many design processes and updates before they can be installed in a home. If you are trying to keep a project under a certain budget and done in a short amount of time, pre-built cabinets are the best option.

Cons Of Pre-built Cabinets
Just like with any material or home trend, pre-built cabinets do have some drawbacks when installed in homes and businesses. Here are some of the cons that could cost you down the road if you choose pre-built cabinets for your space.
Quality Is Not Consistent
The quality of pre-manufactured cabinets can vary depending on the manufacturer and the materials. Even the same manufacturer can have pre-built cabinets of higher and lower qualities. Some pre-made cabinets are made of durable materials, but the majority of them are made with low-grade particleboard. Choosing a manufacturer that uses natural materials will ensure you get a more durable cabinet.
Lack Of Availability
Although pre-made options are often available, if you change any of the style or finish options, they may not be available for a few weeks. This can delay your project completion which you were hoping to avoid from custom cabinets.
Potential For Installation Errors
Some pre-built cabinets are not actually pre-built at all. You may have to assemble them yourself and install them inside your home. Many homeowners are not trained cabinet installers and can make errors when installing them to walls or underneath countertops. Improper installation can reduce the longevity of the cabinets, making it more common for homeowners to replace cabinets in a few years.
Limited Customizations
While those who choose pre-built cabinets may not care about customizations, there are very few coloring and door design options for pre-built sets. They are not as flexible as custom options which may not match your other home elements or design. Modifications, intricate detailing, or bold colors are often not available for pre-made cabinets.
